Systematic Review of Stigma Interventions for Providers Who Treat Patients with SUDs

The stigma surrounding substance use disorders (SUDs) is a frequently cited barrier to treatment engagement and there has been more interest about this in recent years. This study reviewed stigma interventions for providers and found several brief and effective strategies.  While physician education can change these negative attitudes, contact-based approaches with individuals in recovery result in more lasting reductions of stigma.
