More than sixty million people worldwide have alcohol use disorder (AUD). Millions of children grow up with at least one parent with harmful alcohol use but not all of them are affected the same way or have negative outcomes. However, adverse effects of having a parent with AUD are measurable from birth and range from somatic and mental disorders to increased mortality.
