Joint Accreditation Statement: In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by the Governor’s Institute and the American Society of Addiction Medicine. The American Society of Addiction Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Physicians: The American Society of Addiction Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 13.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses: This activity awards 13.75 Nursing contact hours.

Pharmacy: This activity will offer 13.75 pharmacy contact hours (13.75 CEUs). Pharmacists will be asked to provide identifying information (e-Profile ID and DOB in MMDD format) in order to receive credit and allow reporting to CPE Monitor. (UAN: JA0000141-9999-24-024-L01)

Social Workers: As a Jointly Accredited Organization, ASAM is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. Social workers completing this course receive 13.75 general continuing education credits.

Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) Credits: This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive 13.75 Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) credits for learning and change.

Counselors: The North Carolina Addiction Specialist Professional Practice Board has approved the 2024 Addiction Medicine Conference for up to 13.75 hours SS (PSY & SUDE hours available based on sessions attended). 24-419-S

American Board of Addiction Medicine Recognized Activity: This course is a recognized activity for American Board of Addiction Medicine (ABAM) Diplomates enrolled in the Transitional Continuous Certification Program (TraCC). This course has been recognized by ABAM. Physicians enrolled in ABAM TraCC can apply a maximum of 13.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ for completing the 2024 Addiction Medicine Conference.

DR. FREDERICK B. GLASER AWARD

LEADERS IN THE FIELD OF ADDICTION MEDICINE

This award was developed to honor one of the pioneers of Addiction Medicine in North Carolina. Dr. Frederick Glaser demonstrated a commitment to this field of medicine from early in his career.

He received his M.D. from Harvard University in 1959 and then served his residency at the U.S. Public Health Service Narcotics Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Glaser went on to have a distinguished career in the field of substance abuse, including the study of opiates and alcohol.

He has held a variety of positions in the United States and Canada, serving as the director of the University of Michigan Substance Abuse Research Center from 1989 to 1994 before becoming Professor of Psychiatry and Director of the Division on Substance Abuse at the East Carolina University School of Medicine.
