April is Alcohol Awareness Month

Alcohol Awareness Month is a time to raise awareness and increase understanding of how alcohol use impacts our health and communities. In the United States, alcohol contributes to more than 178,000 deaths each year, making it one of the leading preventable causes of death. Excessive alcohol use is also linked to seven different types of cancer and more than 200 different diseases and injury-related health conditions.

This month serves as an important opportunity to encourage individuals and communities to learn more about the effects of alcohol and address misconceptions and stigma that can make it harder to seek help.
