Addressing Cannabis Use Disorder in Primary Care Settings

A new SAMHSA advisory guides primary care providers, pediatricians, and geriatricians on identifying and treating cannabis use disorder across all life stages—from adolescence through pregnancy and older adulthood. The advisory notes that cannabis use disorder affects an estimated 20.6 million Americans age 12 and older and emphasizes the importance of distinguishing CUD from state-authorized medical marijuana use.
