New NC Statewide Overdose Surveillance Reports for September 2020

The Injury and Violence Prevention Branch of the Division of Public Health recently updated the provisional data on opioid-related overdose and unintentional med/drug overdose with potential for abuse emergency department visits report (NC DETECT).

Overdose Involving Medication or Drugs with Dependency Potential

There were 1,278 overdose ED visits this September compared to 998 this time last year (September 2019).

There were 678 opioid overdose ED visits this September compared to 565 this time last year (September 2019).
