In response to the Perspective article in the February 28 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine, Dr. Jana Burson provides her take on the overuse of benzodiazepines, particularly in her part of western of North Carolina. Since the United States is not the only country struggling with benzodiazepine use, she explores how a few other countries have attempted to mitigate the negative effects by utilizing prescribing guidelines for physicians.
